Session 2: Applications in Fisheries (1 Hour)
- Mapping Fishing Grounds using SST and Chlorophyll
- Fishery Forecast Models (PFZ Advisories – Indian Case Study)
- Monitoring Harmful Algal Blooms (HABs) & Coastal Water Quality
- Case Studies: Tuna Fisheries, Coastal Resource Mapping
Day 2 – Advanced Applications and Practical Exposure

- Upwelling Zones and Productivity

- Basic Visualization using QGIS / Google Earth Engine

Basic principles of remote sensing: electromagnetic spectrum, resolutions, image interpretation
Overview of GIS and its role in spatial analysis
Types of remote sensing data: optical, radar, LiDAR, thermal
Integrating UAV data into GIS workflows for mapping and monitoring
Session 3 (Demo): Drone Operations & Image Processing
Pre-flight planning and mission design
Demonstration of take-off, navigation, and landing procedures
Capturing aerial images and videos with onboard cameras
Introduction to image stitching and orthomosaic generation
Software tools for basic UAV data processing
Day 2 – Advanced Tools & Applied Hazard Modeling
Session 1: Advanced Drone Sensors & Technologies
LiDAR (Light Detection and Ranging) – principles, advantages, and applications
Multispectral and hyperspectral imaging – vegetation health, soil moisture, and land cover analysis
Thermal imaging – detecting temperature variations for environmental studies
Sensor integration and data synchronization for multi-modal analysis
Session 5: Drone Data Processing for Landslide Hazard Modeling
Understanding landslide types and contributing factors
Acquisition of high-resolution topographic data using UAVs
Processing and analyzing DEMs (Digital Elevation Models) for slope stability assessment
Integrating drone data with geological and hydrological datasets in GIS
